Most frequent questions and answers

Your baby will ideally be less than 2 weeks old. Ripa makes every effort to photograph newborns between days 5 and 10. During this window of time, babies are very sleepy, easily posed, less fussy, and have become accustomed to nursing. As newborns get older (10+ days), they tend to be more challenging to pose and settle, may develop baby acne, and have longer wake periods. For these reasons, it’s absolutely essential that the newborn session be scheduled early.

If, however, you have an older newborn, please reach out. Ripa regularly photographs older babies and she would be happy to accommodate last-minute bookings whenever her schedule permits.

Please book your newborn portrait session before your baby is born whenever possible. Most families reserve their due dates during their second trimester or early in their third. This ensures that space is allotted in Ripa’s calendar to photograph your baby during the ideal age (between 5 and 10 days old).

Ripa understands that your due date is only an estimate. She will reserve time on and around your due date, ensuring you have a spot in her schedule. Upon your baby’s arrival, you or someone you trust will contact Ripa to arrange your actual session date.

*To give each client the best service possible, Ripa books a limited number of portrait sessions per month. It is recommended that clients book newborn sessions as early as possible to ensure availability of dates and avoid disappointment. Ripa will make every effort to accommodate late bookings whenever her schedule permits.

All newborn sessions will take place inside FAP private in home studio located in Southgate, London.  You’ll have access to Ripa’s high-end prop collection of wraps, headbands, bonnets, outfits and other accessories sourced from around the world; to make your newborn session a success. Newborn’s photograph best in their natural state, so there’s no need for you to worry about outfits or anything at all. This is a time for parents to relax!

All sessions are baby-led, meaning we work around the cues of your baby.  We allot plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing the baby — Sessions are never rushed! Ripa allots up to 4 hours to complete the session, although most sessions last about 3 hours.

Absolutely!!  We encourage the involvement of siblings and parents. We know how special the addition of a new member is, and we love when the whole family is involved.

Newborn health and safety is Ripa’s top priority.

With children of her own and years working with young children, Ripa understands a newborn’s vulnerable immune system and takes every precaution to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of her tools and props.  In cases of photographer or client illnesses, sessions will be rescheduled.

Ripa will never jeopardise a baby’s safety during a session. She will not pose your baby in unsafe ways or in unstable props. Poses are always simple and comfortable for your delicate new baby.

Every baby will reach developmental milestones, like sitting up or standing, at their own pace.  Typically, babies sit up without support between the ages of 6 and 9 months. It’s best to reserve your session around 5-6 months and then schedule your session once your baby begins showing signs of sitting up.

We suggest that First Year Sessions are scheduled for the 12th month, as this is a milestone in and of itself!

Contact the studio to discuss your baby’s Sitter or First Year Session today.

The FAP studio is stocked with adorable sitter and first-year outfits for both boys and girls to fit in with our ‘Themed sessions’. We also have props, accessories, headbands, and bonnets that every family is welcome to use. Ripa will ensure to discuss your specifics of colour schemes and dress preference ahead of the session taking place. If you’d like to have your baby photographed in something special, we encourage you to bring it along!

Absolutely! Siblings and parents are always welcome to join in on baby sessions. These are important milestones to document for the whole family!
